description
Taylor Harrison have been retained by a successful, forward thinking, independent building society, who as part of their succession planning are now looking to strengthen their Board through the appointment of a Non-Executive Director and Chair of Risk Committee Designate. It is expected that the appointed Non-Executive Director will succeed the current Chair of Risk within 6-12 months following appointment and will also become a member of the Audit & Compliance Committee.
We expect this individual will currently be sitting as a Non-Executive Director and will have previously worked within a UK-regulated financial services firm. Ideally, you will be a qualified accountant with recent and practical experience of current accounting practices, but also be able to evidence good knowledge of risk management and a deep understanding of the regulatory landscape within financial services.
Bringing an independent perspective, you will provide appropriate oversight, challenge and leadership to the Society, allowing it to deliver its aims and business plans, whilst ensuring it meets its legal and regulatory obligations and performs against members expectations. Furthermore, you will exercise due-diligence and control over decision making and will scrutinise the performance of the Executive team, holding them to account as appropriate.
Candidates must possess the gravitas, independent judgement and tenacity to inspire confidence, challenge executive thinking and communicate with clarity and integrity.
